Throughout November we have continued our focus of engaging with children, young people and families about their experiences of accessing GP appointments and NHS dentistry in Rutland. We visited a stay and play session at the Uppingham Scout Hut and listened to the Rutland Disabled Youth Forum.

The NHS is urging everyone eligible for a COVID-19 or Flu jab to get vaccinated this autumn.

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is the virus causing many coughs and colds, which peaks in December and January each year.

Usually, RSV infections get better by themselves, but they can become much more serious for some people, particularly babies and older adults. A vaccine is now available to help protect young babies and older people from becoming seriously unwell from RSV.

During Mental Health Awareness Week 2024 we had the opportunity to visit Peppers - A Safe Place. Peppers is a group based in Oakham for people who may be struggling with their mental health or experiencing feelings of loneliness.

You can now get help for 7 common minor illnesses at your local pharmacy without a GP appointment

On 7 February 2024 the Government published a dental care recovery plan.

The Rutland Healthcare Support service was formed back in 2008 and is still running today with a team of dedicated volunteers. With a break in service due to relocating, the organisation has recently opened their doors again in their new premises in Barleythorpe. The new base for the Rutland Healthcare Support shop offers free parking and is easily accessible through automatic doors just off the car park. They offer a sales service as well as items to hire such as crutches, toilet aids and wheelchairs from £1 per day.
