Urgent care centres and healthcare hubs reopening across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland
There are now twelve centres available across LLR; four in Leicester City, seven in the County and one in Rutland.
Patients should access the service by first making an appointment by contacting their usual GP practice or NHS111.
Urgent care centres and healthcare hubs are an integral part of the primary care service in LLR, to improve access to appointments outside of GP practice opening times, or during especially busy periods. They offer appointments during the day, in the evenings, overnight, at weekends and on bank holidays for patients needing urgent health care or advice, in situations that are not life-threatening.
“Winter is always a busy time for health services and we are providing extra capacity in primary care by reopening these urgent care centres and making it easier for patients to receive care closer to home when they most need it.
“We want people to know that the NHS is here for you and, although Covid means extra pressures, we do not want anyone to feel put off from seeking help. But please remember, that if the situation is not life threatening, you should make an appointment before attending any NHS service.”
